Malibu Stage will bring George Bernard Shaw's warm and witty comedy, "Candida" to Malibu's prestigious professional theatre, August 11, 2005.
Directed
by Brendon Fox, former associate director of the Old Globe Theatre in San
Diego, Shaw's timeless classic challenges conventional wisdom about relationships
between the sexes. Fox, who is making his Malibu debut, is presently the
interim associate artistic director at LA Theatre Works where he recently
directed a new adaptation of "Antigone" and the Olivier
Award winning play "Blue/Orange". Aside from his tenure
at the Old Globe where he directed seven plays for the main stage
including "Sky Girls", "Much Ado About
Nothing" and "The Countess", Mr. Fox has previously
directed several of Shaw's plays including, "Arms And The Man" at
The Shakespeare Theatre, "Heartbreak
House", at Shaw
in Chicago, and "Don Juan In Hell" at the Bailiwick Repertory
Theatre.
"Candida" features well-known actors Jen Dede ("The Learned Ladies" at The Court Theatre), Jeff Woodman (San Francisco Theatre Critic's Circle Award Winner), Michael Winters ("Gilmore Girls", "Kentucky Cycle" at the Mark Taper Forum), Aaron Misakian, Bree Elrod (Craig Noel Award from the San Diego Critics Circle) and Zeb Newman.
"Candida" runs
August 13 - September 4. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
and Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
