Written by David Auburn and directed by Cate Caplin, the play tells the story of Catherine, a young woman who has spent the last few years of her life caring for her brilliant mathematician father who has gone into mental decline.  Many questions arise when one of her father’s former students discovers a groundbreaking mathematical proof that her father may or may not have written.  Catherine’s sister shows up and further complicates matters, prompting an intriguing and thoughtful examination of the fine line between genius and madness. PROOF won the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2001.
